SPRING FORWARD: Into the Body of Hope
By Pamela Bloom
As spring approaches, I’ve been mesmerized by a book titled Love Is Stronger than Death, about the love affair a female Episcopalian priest had with a 70-year-old Trappist monk. Not your ordinary, every-day passion! While I can’t figure out whether they actually slept together (I’m not finished reading yet!), what’s clear is that author Cynthia Bourgeault experienced an amazing connection with her beloved after death that still vibrates with her today.
In her book, Bourgeault pulls out a lot of philosophical punches to explain what others might simply call a soul-mate connection, or a transcendental spiritual bond, the kind experienced with gurus, teachers, etc. One term she comes up with to explain how and why she could feel Brother Raphael Robin’s presence in her very bones after his passing was the beautiful phrase “Body of Hope.” I love that term because even though Cynthia is not a “New Ager,” the term resonates with my understanding of our light body, and how we actually do communicate beyond our physical bodies, beyond time, beyond space, and beyond death.
A few years back I had the wondrous adventure with my friend Carla Flack to experience what this communication between “bodies of hope” might feel like. I’m a little embarrassed to say it started off as a joke. The great newscaster Walter Cronkite had just died and Carla told me her boyfriend had been wondering out loud what Walt’s first interview from Heaven would be like. Carla and I both laughed at the idea, then suddenly said, “Why not?!” See, Carla and I are both intuitives, and somehow the idea just grabbed us in the moment. Since I was in New York and she was in Indiana, we promised to sit down at our computers that night and see if Walter might be ready to talk.
And boy, were we surprised! The next morning we compared notes and found the “voice” we had received was extraordinarily similar. We had no idea where it would all lead, but it turned out to be the beginning of a wild ride. For the next seven weeks, we experienced--jointly, though independently--a new “body of hope” arriving each week: first, Michael Jackson, then Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, Paul Newman, Amelia Earhart, Walt Disney, and finally John Lennon. When we realized it might be a book, we decided to hold in our heart one question each. Because of the way I do healing/channeling work, I wanted to know what were the insights each “body of hope” had gleaned from that life. In contrast, Carla wanted to know what the actual moments after passing had been like.
And each week was an amazing new revelation. What astounded us were the unique voices that came through each Body of Hope and their unique messages. And with each beloved, we also experienced vivid, vibrational energy shifts coinciding with deep emotion. For instance, John Lennon, ever a visionary and a poet in his soul essence, made me cry just from the profundity of his spirit. I think Carla loved Walt Disney the best because his experiences after passing--of creative worlds within worlds within worlds--were simply extraordinary. Abraham Lincoln shocked us both with his take on the karmic relationship with his assassin. And we both LOVED Paul Newman. How your energy can still feel “sexy” after death is beyond me, but both Carla and I agree--Paul has still got it. I mean, it was a VISCERAL experience!
Carla and I gathered all our channelings, plus our own “behind-the-scene” experiences, into our book Heaven Speaks: Intimate Interviews with Illuminated Souls. We love it that people have told us they cry when they read the book; I believe it reminds them of Home. But readers have also reported huge shots of joy. I have to say, whatever you think of Michael Jackson, I believe without a doubt he is still transmitting that joyous explosion of musical energy from wherever he is. During our time with him, he even channeled to both of us new lyrics for the song “Human Nature.” And you know what? Yesterday I was in the grocery store when that song came on the radio, and believe me, I took it as a message!
And that’s because our Human Nature IS exactly this Body of Hope, our light body, our communicative vessel to all realms. When we begin to live in this light, there is no separation, there is no boundary between what we can dream and what we can accomplish. This is the attitude I take in my healing sessions with others. And it was definitely John Lennon’s message in Heaven Speaks--a perfect empowerment for any season, but especially for spring, when all the buds are begging to BLOOM!
As polar vortexes take their last stand this month and hearts and minds begin to thaw, are you ready to take a leap along with the earth into a new chance at life?
Just imagine it: Your Body of Hope Illuminated.
